But this play still speaks of those who could not grasp this changing climate—those who went on teaching sociology in the period meant for economics. They lived their lives as though it were the freedom struggle itself, but freedom came with such swiftness and passed them by so quickly that their ideals, their values, their principles were left behind.

First came the Naxalite movement, then the wave of Hippie-ism, and finally the tide of drug addiction—all of which devoured their dreams. The theories they once believed to be the cure for the nation’s every ailment proved so impossible in practice that, in its very fire, their families, their very selves, their dignity were all scorched. And yet—not a drop of water was anywhere near to quench that fire.

At last, reaching the barren silence of old age, they cried out:
“Why is there so little water in the pot?”
